Instant Addiction...

by ~Fangirl-of-Ace

Please--please--don't send me there
I already see them--everywhere!
I've been there once, now can't escape--
rape as comedy--some comedy is rape

Under that...thing's grave power,
A minute would soon be an hour!
An hour then five, and then a day,
And before long, a life's wasted away!

Action girls and princess curls
Someone gave me a map to the way...
Simple plans and hating fans
I shouldn't, I know--but here, I can't stay!

Planets of hats and scares by cats,
It has control over the mind!
Goddamned bats and Minnesota Fats
And I...now one of its kind!

We lurk, planting small knowledge seeds
And writing up articles nobody reads
I always find myself there, despite all my strife --
TVTropes has ruined my life.

...due to constant lust for information.

Ah, man, you know you're in it deep when even the few poems you CAN write are about TVtropes. This addiction is beautiful.

My addictions at the moment: The Electric Banana Band, TVtropes, Pokémon, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, and The Comics Curmudgeon. Measures up to a nice and neat 5.

In case you're intrigued about what I've even managed to accomplish on TVtropes that keeps me away so much from DeviantArt, feel free to read this page ([link] -- oh man, I just handtyped that URL instead of copy-pasting it, I am in this so deep) about an old nostalgic Swedish children's show. I didn't do that entirely by myself, of course, the first picture is courtesy of a fellar called Fast Eddie, and some--well, most, I suppose, I don't want to be a glory hog--of the examples are from another fellar called TITO, but I did the base foundation of the article and wasted away bits of my life poking up examples. It did, however, make me feel extremely honored when the writer/director left a review, and a fellar (man, I like spelling it like that) left a comment saying that I did great work. Thank you, Madraguda, you very active fellow who I keep forgetting the name of and feel like a jerk for it because you are NICE.

I'm not that hyper right now, honestly. Alright, okay, yeah, I am. BUT IT IS SO FUN. It's too good to exist, in theory -- it makes people addicted by its constant stream of fascinating information and thus make people waste away learning fascinating facts that they'll never employ other than in learning OTHER fascinating facts.

In short: I learned TVTropes would ruin my life, and now TVtropes has ruined my life (as well as my vocabulary), but enhanced it in the process. I keep trying to pot hole these words and realizing that oh yeah that's right this isn't TVtropes hey wait WHY ISN'T IT.

God it's addictive. But I love it.

TVtropes (C) ...uh...ah...THE PEOPLE.

You are not alone, my friend. TVTropes has ruined my life as well. I'm actually here from the "Ruined Your Life" article.

Okay...I just put it to my head...and pull the trigger...and an ancient god comes from my soul?

They say TVTropes will ruin your life...I'm living proof that they're quite right.

Whoop for shameless plugging!

I didn't have internet for most of the last week, and now I've found a spot with Wi-Fi to check the history on an article. The last edit made there is still mine...

Out of curiousity, do you go to TVTropes for the tropes or the work pages?

Both. I've also contributed a few times. Around there, I'm known as Grade0.

Nice. I tend to be able to contribute more to works pages, but everything on there's pretty well-written.

Crimes so far:

1. Made me make Wild Mass guesses.
2. Makes me get internet jokes.
3. RUINED [insert favorite thing here] FOREVER!!!!
4. Made me conscious to make sure I am not any near the fandumb/hatedumb.
5. Scary black man? Okay. Killer robots? Eh. Cthulhu? Nothing too bad. Small name Wish fulfillment rude author with a big ego that written but not limit to canon defilement, double standards, failure of knowing the basics of how human bodies work, and lack of grammer? WHY?
............
198. It made me tried to be a Master of None.
199. I actually read the whole "TVTropes ruined my life. AND GOT THE REFERENCES WITHOUT HOVERING OVER THE LINKS." And admitting this might be copying it.
200. I had homework?

TVtropes is a cruel mistress. We love it, yet hate it, yet are lost to its horrible, horrible beauty. (There are thirteen tabs of it open in my browser right now. Argh! Argh!)

:U And I learned Sturgeon's law, so life is now less disappointing.

Ahh yes, the different laws. I have no idea what they're called, but what they teach is clear...and Sturgeon's Law does make life less dissappointing. Or lowers your expectations, at least.
